Harvard Medical School's Effective Writing for Health Care certificate program will help you convey your writing with greater impact, clarity and reader engagement. This program is designed for clinicians, clinical investigators, researchers and allied health care professionals and non-clinicians who desire to improve their writing skills, process, quality, reach, impact and the likelihood of publication or funding.

Featuring faculty editors and contributors from the New England Journal of Medicine, Harvard College Writing Program and prominent publications, this program encompasses a blended learning model to fit into your schedule. Throughout this one-year program, you’ll participate in three workshops, self-paced on-demand sessions, webinars and complete writing exercises to help you achieve your writing goals.

Core Curriculum with Two Specialized Tracks

During the first half of the program, you’ll spend time mastering a robust core curriculum to strengthen your overall writing expertise. Then you will select a specialized track that will culminate with a capstone project, where you will create a submission-ready written work to meet your writing career objectives. Specialized tracks include:
Writing for Medical and Scientific Journals
Increase the likelihood of your submission’s acceptance to a medical journal or scientific publication
Writing for the Public
Achieve success in communicating your ideas and opinions via newspapers, magazines and social media.
