John,

As someone who cares about our environment and isn't a fan of single-use plastic, you've probably opened a box of your favorite cereal and been frustrated by the extra plastic bag.

Why use the plastic when there are greener alternatives?

Many plastics in our grocery cart are unnecessary and wasteful, which is why we are calling on major corporations to reduce single-use plastic packaging.

Tell General Mills to reduce its plastic packaging.

Plastic waste in the United States is out of hand, and our groceries are a big part of the problem. More than a quarter of all of America's garbage is packaging.[1]

With shelves stocked with favorite brands owned by General Mills, including Cheerios, Yoplait, Betty Crocker and Nature Valley, most people probably encounter a General Mills product on just about every grocery run. Their packaging becomes our plastic waste.

If General Mills took meaningful action to reduce its plastic waste, it would keep tons of plastic out of the trash and could push other brands in the right direction.

But if we are going to convince General Mills to act, the company needs to hear from us. Add your name today.

General Mills has demonstrated that it is open to reducing its plastic use.

The company has pledged to make all its packaging recyclable or reusable by 2030. And in September 2022, a majority of the company's shareholders voted to tell the company to reduce plastic use and waste.[2]

While this is a good start, only 5% of plastics in the U.S. are actually recycled, so the company must make more solid commitments to move beyond plastic.[3]

General Mills is already hearing from its shareholders -- if enough of its customers demand action too, General Mills could be compelled to act.
