Over the past several days, social media platforms have become a breeding ground for misleading and outright false content concerning the ongoing conflict between Israel and Hamas. Posts containing harmful lies are getting millions of views — thanks to algorithms designed to promote engagement over truth. 

This isn’t by chance. Over the last two years, Google, X (formerly Twitter), and Meta have all slashed their teams dedicated to trust, safety, and fighting misinformation and disinformation.

These tech companies are promoting a cycle of outrage, engagement, and redistribution. But letting false content run rampant can have deadly consequences.

Michael is calling on tech companies to crack down on this misleading content. Their current policies and protocols are simply not doing enough, and Big Tech must address it.
