GOV. LUJAN GRISHAM SIGNS RED FLAG BILL INTO LAW
Gov. Lujan Grisham stole New Mexicans' rights last week as she inked her name to the Red Flag bill. The new law allows authorities to confiscate firearms from people they believe might pose a threat to themselves or others. Since the bill was introduced in January, 27 New Mexico counties have formally opposed the bill. It violates our 2nd Amendment rights, hinders due process and ignores search and seizure protocol. It looks like at the Roundhouse special interests outweigh the rights of the citizens of New Mexico again. This is a gun grab, and sheriffs across the Land of Enchantment have opposed this bill that imposes on our freedoms.

COSTS RISE FOR ALBUQUERQUE'S PROPOSED HOMELESS SHELTER
It looks like Mayor Keller's Administration can't control the costs of that proposed homeless shelter. ([link removed]) The initial price tag for the shelter was $14 million, but now it seems the cost suddenly jumped to $21 million. This, after the legislature with its $800 million in new money gave the city $50,000 instead of the requested matching $14 million. Is this the way to deal with a homeless crisis that's getting national attention? Now the city not only needs more money, but has also never fully addressed the other problem--the real numbers of people who need help. The city wants to have a shelter for 300 people, but experts contend it really needs space for another two hundred or more. Sounds like the city hasn't thought all this through.

Voters across the nation are flocking to the polls in 14 states this Super Tuesday. 1,357 delegates are at stake. Here in New Mexico, it's municipal election day. We need voters to cast ballots for local Republican candidates. Send the message that we need less taxation, more fiscal responsibility and tough-on-crime local leaders. New Mexico's Primary Election is June 2.
