John,

Valerie here. I want to provide a quick update on voting rights here in North Carolina.

North Carolina is a key battleground state for the 2024 elections. That also means it’s a battleground state for the GOP’s attacks on voting rights. So far this year, North Carolina’s GOP supermajority is clearing the way for partisan gerrymandering, discriminatory voter ID laws, cuts to early voting, and reducing ballot access by eliminating mail-in ballots.

This week, Republicans voted to override Governor Roy Cooper’s veto on SB 747 – a bill that would impose a host of voting restrictions, including shortening the time to send in mail-in ballots and restricting same-day registration.

Ensuring equal access to the ballot should be our #1 priority. I commend the Democratic party in North Carolina for challenging this egregious bill. In Congress, I’m working tirelessly to do the same.

I’m proud to have co-sponsored the Freedom to Vote Act and introduced the Democracy Restoration Act to restore access to the ballot and protect our sacred right to vote. I need your support more than ever, John. Will you support my efforts to protect voting rights in Congress with a $10 contribution to my campaign? My team tells me we need [50] more contributions to make sure we’re on track for this month’s fundraising goal.

Onward,

Valerie
