Dear John,

Last night, I attended a vigil at the U.S. Capitol for the victims of a terrorist attack in Israel.

The depraved violence we’ve seen inflicted on innocent civilians in Israel over the past several days has been nothing short of horrifying. My wife is Jewish. This is personal to me. This is a difficult time for so many families in Israel, in America and around the world.

The attacks by Hamas terrorists have impacted Jews who are worried for their loved ones, afraid for Jewish people around the world and uncertain about what the future holds. This must be a time that unites us in the fight against violent terrorism, strengthens our resolve to end anti-semitism and deepens our commitment to building a world where all people can live in peace and security.

Israel is our strongest and most strategic ally in the Middle East and has been there for us when we needed them. As Secretary Tony Blinken said this week – as long as America exists, Israel will never have to defend itself alone.

I will continue to do everything in my power, working with both Republicans and Democrats, to support Israel as it fights back against this act of war and works to protect its citizens. The reality of the situation is that Congress must unite in support of Israel, but sadly Republicans all week have been unable to even vote on a House Speaker.

Right now, House Republicans have a choice: continue this chaos and infighting and keep Congress frozen, or work across the aisle with Democrats to reopen the House and address the most urgent issues facing our nation.

I stand ready to work with anyone, in either party, to get back to work for the American people and help Israel defend her people.

Here’s what else I was up to this week:

Supporting MN-02 small businesses
I started my week off in Eagan with the Dakota County Regional Chamber of Commerce to talk about how I can best support small businesses across our district.

Caring for our veterans
I also visited the Minneapolis VA Hospital to get a tour of the facility and meet with AFGE Local 3669 and Local 1969 members from the South Metro to learn more about what they need from Congress to do their jobs caring for our veterans.

Honoring our public safety champions
Before I returned to Washington, I also hosted our 2nd Annual Honoring Our Public Safety Champions event. Minnesota law enforcement officers, firefighters & EMS professionals work every day to ensure our safety, so we gathered in Lakeville to recognize their service to Minnesota’s Second District. I’ll always fight to ensure our public safety workers get the support they need.

Behind the Scenes with Rep. Craig

Every day in my office is special in its own way, but having Dakota around makes it even better!

Dakota helped keep my Burnsville and DC offices running smoothly this week – in exchange for treats and cuddles from the whole team, of course!

I hope you all have a safe, enjoyable weekend with friends and family.

Until next time,
