Let me explain why.
I know you’re frustrated. I know you’re scared. I know you’re, quite frankly, fed the hell up.
A contingent of extremist Republicans in Congress can’t get their act together to pass a proper budget bill. If they can’t govern well enough to fund the government, we can’t confidently say we’ll make good on our debt payments. We can’t do much of anything until we have a new Speaker.
This is a time for leadership, not partisanship. It’s a time for solutions, not finger-pointing to try and score a cheap political point. I’m working every day in Washington with folks like Rep. Peltola to bring results, bring stability, and bring security.
But I’ll be honest: we’ve got the odds stacked against us right now. Too many far-right extremist politicians are interested in their moment in the spotlight or pandering to an extremist base. They can’t do what needs to be done in this moment.
Me and Mary are Americans first. And we will always do what is right to protect our country, protect our allies, and allow our people to thrive.
