Message from Rep. Tracey Mann. Having Trouble Viewing? Click Here. Fellow Kansan, Thank you for subscribing to my newsletter! I’m pleased to update you on my work in Washington, D.C. and the First District of Kansas. It is an honor to represent Kansans in the Big First District in the 118th Congress. I do not serve in Congress to be a caretaker in the slow demise of America – I serve to fight and work to make it stronger, and I believe our brightest days are yet to come. Yours in service,   Mann.House.Gov   The Week Ahead America stands with Israel. Today, I will help introduce a resolution committing America to standing with Israel as it defends itself against the barbaric war launched by Hamas. Just three days ago, in a coordinated effort, hundreds of Hamas terrorists infiltrated Israeli territory and began a murder and kidnapping spree, killing people in their homes, in the streets, and on their way to synagogue, and kidnapping others who crossed their path. According to the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum, October 7 was the deadliest day for Jews since the Holocaust. Hamas’ attack on Israel is still ongoing. As of today: Terrorists have launched more than 3,500 rockets and missiles into Israel 900 people have been murdered, including 11 Americans 2,600 people have been wounded 130 people have been kidnapped and taken into Gaza. Hamas is an internationally recognized terrorist organization, and it is operating with the full support of Iran’s political regime, including financing, logistical support, and weapon supply. Last month, President Biden unfroze $6 billion in liquid Iranian assets in a prisoner swap. In light of these attacks, the Biden Administration must be held accountable for that reckless and shortsighted move that has undoubtedly contributed to Iran's involvement with Hamas. As we speak, brave Israeli soldiers are fighting to defend their nation’s sovereignty and protect Israeli civilians by targeting their efforts to dismantle the terrorist strongholds. I am praying for an end to the conflict in Israel, for all hostages to be returned home safely, and for a restoration of peace. We must continue to support Israel, condemn all attacks on Israel’s sovereignty, and hold the Biden Administration accountable for its continued deals with those who support Hamas and other terrorist groups. The recent attacks on Israel highlight the importance of supporting Israel with strong defense policies. On September 29, I voted yes on H.R. 4365, the Department of Defense Appropriations Act, which included support for Israel’s Iron Dome defense system, the Arrow Weapon system, and the David’s Sling system. I also cosponsor H.Res. 346, a resolution of America’s support for Israel and recognizing the Islamic Republic of Iran as a threat to Israel, the United States, and the globe, and H.Con.Res. 57, a resolution rejecting all forms of antisemitism. Again, America stands with Israel. The U.S. House of Representatives may examine additional appropriation bills this week, including the Transportation, Housing and Urban Development, and Related Agencies Appropriations Act, the Energy and Water Development Appropriations Act, and the Legislative Branch Appropriations Act. As with all appropriation bills that I consider, my priorities are reducing and reprioritizing government spending, securing the border, and ending the weaponization of the federal government. The National 4-H Council equips students with the tools and resources they need to be successful leaders of tomorrow. Some of my favorite memories come from participating in 4-H livestock shows during the county fair season. My time in 4-H helped me grow in confidence, taught me responsibility, and encouraged me as I learned skills that have helped me throughout my life. Now, as the representative for the Big First District of Kansas, I'm honored to support efforts that give the next generation the same opportunities. Kansas Hospital Association The Kansas Hospital Association advocates tirelessly for rural health care in the Big First District and across the state. With unprecedented health care challenges across the country, I appreciate them meeting with me in D.C. to discuss current issues facing our Kansas hospitals and health care providers. Thank you, KHA, for the great work you are doing to support rural health care in Kansas. Agforce Transport Service It was great meeting with Agforce Transport Service President Michael Preisinger to review Transportation Intermediaries Association (TIA) priorities. We discussed issues with supply chain fraud, broker transparency regulations, and how we can work together to deliver solutions. America needs a tailored, well-maintained infrastructure network to support economic activity, strengthen our supply chain, and remain a global power. I’m grateful for the work TIA is doing to strengthen the future of American transportation. Manhattan Area Chamber of Commerce It was a pleasure for me to meet with members of the Manhattan Area Chamber of Commerce. We discussed their continued support for Kansas State University, Fort Riley, the Manhattan Regional Airport, and other projects. Chambers of Commerce are vital parts of local communities, and I’m grateful for the work the Manhattan Chamber is doing to support the city. National Stone, Sand, and Gravel Association The National Stone, Sand, and Gravel Association is the leading advocate for the aggregates industry. As a member of the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee, I appreciated hearing their insights about harmful regulations that are affecting their members and the future generation of the construction and mining workforce. Thank you to Brendan Deveraux, Andy Jones, Steve Sloan, Becky Sloan, and Rich Evangelista, Kansas-based members of NSSGA, for meeting with me. U.S. Marine Corps I am honored to have met with the U.S. Marine Corps. Their seal will hang in my Washington, D.C. office alongside seals representing the other branches of our military, and it will serve as a constant reminder that we owe our freedom to the brave men and women who have dedicated their lives to protecting us. I remain committed to advocating on behalf of active and retired service members in the Big First District and across America. Semper Fi!     In the District Honoring Civil War 1st Colored Infantry Veteran Doc McWilliams America was founded on the sacrifices of brave individuals who put their lives on the line defending freedom, and we must never forget those sacrifices. As the representative for the Big First District, I have the privilege of recognizing our nation's heroes, like Union Civil War veteran Doc McWilliams. Mr. McWilliams was a member of the 1st Kansas Colored Infantry, Company G, the first black unit organized in a northern state. I am proud to have helped members of the Kansas Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War (SUVCW) obtain a new headstone for Mr. McWilliams through the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs. The unveiling ceremony for Mr. McWilliams' headstone took place on September 30 in Lawrence's Oak Hill cemetery. I am proud to advocate on behalf of Kansas veterans, both past and present. If you, or a loved one, are a U.S. military veteran and are seeking assistance, please contact my office. My team and I are here to serve you.
