New 2023-2024 COVID monovalent vaccines available for TVFC and ASN programs
Post Date: 10/10/2023 10:02 AM

GALVESTON COUNTY, Texas ? Galveston County Health District (GCHD) is now offering the new 2023-2024 COVID monovalent vaccines through the Texas Vaccines for Children (TVFC) and Adult Safety Net (ASN) programs.

TVFC provides free and low-cost vaccination to uninsured and underinsured children from birth to 18 years of age. GCHD will offer Pfizer?s COVID vaccine, still under Emergency Use Authorization (EUA), to those aged 6 months through 11 years, and Moderna?s fully approved COVID vaccine, known as Spikevax, is available for those aged 12 years and older.

ASN provides free and low-cost vaccination to uninsured adults aged 19 years and older. 2023-2024 COVID vaccines have been added to this program and will be available for free without administrative costs.

TVFC and ASN programs require screening to qualify for free and low-cost vaccinations. More information, including eligibility requirements, can be found at www.gchd.org.

Residents with insurance can receive their 2023-2024 monovalent COVID vaccine through their medical provider or local pharmacy, such as CVS or Walgreens. Adults aged 19 years and older who are uninsured or underinsured can also receive their 2023-2024 COVID vaccine through the Bridge Access Program at participating pharmacies, found at www.vaccines.gov.

Vaccines are a safe and effective way to protect vulnerable populations such as young children, older adults, pregnant women, and those with underlying health conditions, from severe COVID-19 disease and/or death.

2023-2024 COVID monovalent vaccines for the TVFC and ASN programs are available at 9850-B Emmett F. Lowry Expressway, Suite B-104, in Texas City from 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, and until 6:30 p.m. on Tuesdays. Walk-ins are welcome and insurance not required.?
