John,

Today is Indigenous Peoples' Day, and I want to take a moment and reflect on the rich cultural heritage of our Indigenous communities here in North Carolina and acknowledge their contributions to our state.

In Congress, I’m committed to promoting policies that respect the sovereignty and rights of North Carolina's Indigenous People. I’ll work to address the disparities they face, and I’ll support efforts to protect the sacred lands and natural resources that are crucial to their way of life.

We all have a shared responsibility to create a more just and equal society for North Carolina families, and we must work together to make it happen.

I encourage you to take some time on Indigenous Peoples' Day to learn more about the history and culture of North Carolina's Indigenous communities. Engage in discussions with friends and family, and consider how we can collectively support policies that uplift and empower these vital communities.

Wishing you a meaningful and reflective Indigenous Peoples' Day.

Sincerely,

Wiley Nickel
