As the State Senator representing Uvalde, I’ve seen what an assault weapon can do to children. The bullet travels three times as fast as a regular gun. I’m a gun owner and a believer in the second amendment but when 19 children and 2 teachers died at Robb Elementary last year, Republicans wouldn't even allow opportunities to protect our kids.

My kids – and millions of others across Texas – have anxiety when they go to the mall, the movies, or church.

We need an assault weapons ban in America. And as Texas’ next Senator, that’s exactly what I’ll fight for.
