Third Special Session on School Choice

School Choice [[link removed]]

The Texas Legislature's third special session is set to begin next Monday, October 9th, aimed at passing a school choice program, as well as border security issues and COVID-19 vaccine mandates.

As Lt. Governor, I have passed school choice three times out of the Senate, including this year, and not one of those bills has ever made it to the House floor for a vote. It's time to pass school choice in Texas.

Most of what the Governor has asked us to pass in the special session, the Senate already passed this year, only to see the bills die in the House. It's time for them to step up and pass the conservative legislation the people sent us here to pass.

You can always count on the Senate to be the conservative leader in the legislature. We are serious and ready to go to work.

Another Coulda’ Woulda’ Shoulda’ Moment for House Managers in Paxton Impeachment

House Managers still trying to wipe the egg off their face.

Press Release [[link removed]][link removed]

Now, weeks after the conclusion of the impeachment trial, the House Managers, fumbling for an excuse for their pitiful process and performance, have made another desperate attempt to justify their actions.

With the trial over and the verdict announced, the House Managers now want a mulligan. If only they had called another witness or offered another set of documents. That’s not how it works, and they know it. They had nine days to prove their case beyond a reasonable doubt and failed miserably.

GO VOTE FOR PROP 4!

Texans, the Constitutional Amendment for the $100,000 homestead exemption will be on the ballot this November. If approved, the $100,000 homestead exemption will be permanent and codified in the Texas Constitution.

Prop 4 [[link removed]][link removed]

This year, I refused to give up on providing you a $100,000 homestead exemption. The House, twice in two special sessions, did not pass it out as part of their property tax bill. With all 31 senators standing with me, we won the battle. The Senate was not going to take no for an answer.

Now, all you need to do is go vote in November to put it in the Constitution and get your $100,000 homestead exemption ($110,000 for seniors). It's effective this year and, with compression, will lower the average homeowner's bill by $1,100 to $1,400 a year as long as you homestead your home. Your school taxes will go down by about 40%.

Colony Ridge, which is sometimes called Plum Grove, has been in the news recently. I went there earlier last week to begin my research. In case you missed it, here's my report [[link removed]].

Thank you all for your support and everything you do to keep Texas red. May God bless you and your family, and may He continue to bless the greatest state of all—Texas.
