Rep. Troy E. Nehls Endorses Jim Jordan as Speaker Greetings! I wanted to take a moment to share with you a recap on what happened last week in Texas' 22nd District and the United States House of Representatives. This Week in Washington Rep. Troy E. Nehls Votes NO on the Motion to Vacate Kevin McCarthy This week, the United States House of Representatives voted on the Motion to Vacate Speaker Kevin McCarthy. The Motion to Vacate was formally presented by Representative Matt Gaetz (R-FL) and Kevin McCarthy was removed as Speaker by a vote of 216-210. I voted NO on this motion. This is the first time in American history that a Motion to Vacate has succeeded. I agree with President Trump that right now, House Republicans should be focused on stopping the radical Democrats. The House should be focused on continuing the much-needed investigations into the Biden Crime Family and passing the 8 remaining individual spending bills to ensure that our federal government is fully funded to work for the American people. Rep. Troy E. Nehls Endorses Rep. Jim Jordan as Speaker of the House After conversations with President Trump, I learned that he is endorsing Jim Jordan, and I believe Congress should listen to the leader of our party. Representative Jim Jordan (R-OH) is the Chairman of the House Judiciary Committee and is a proven leader. He is committed to the ongoing investigations into the corrupt Biden Crime Family. He is strong on crime, and our nation's borders, supports our military and nation's Veterans, and is a huge supporter of the Second Amendment. Jim Jordan will unite the Republican conference and secure wins for the American people. I fully support Jim Jordan for Speaker of the House. Rep. Troy E. Service Academy Nominations Are Now Open My office is now accepting Service Academy Nominations. One of the privileges of serving in the United States House of Representatives is the opportunity to nominate outstanding young people from the 22nd Congressional District of Texas to be considered for appointment to our nation’s service academies. Admission to a service academy is a two-tiered process. First, the candidate must meet the minimum standards set by the individual academy. Second, the candidate must complete the congressional application by October 6, 2023, to be considered for an interview in our office with the nomination review board. Please note, the ultimate selection of appointees rests solely with academy officials and is based on their competitive evaluation of all nominees. The checklist and application can be found on my website. If you have any questions, please email [email protected] or call my district office at (346) 762-6600.
