A Change in the House

You probably read that for the first time in American history the Speaker of the House has been removed, and we are without a leader to preside over the House. Kevin McCarthy has decided not to run again for Speaker and has left the position open to anyone who wants to run.

Early next week, members will return to Washington, and we will meet as a Republican conference to begin the process of electing a new Speaker. There are good conservative candidates running, and we will have a healthy debate on who should be the next leader of House Republicans. It is important that we work together as Republicans to elect a new Speaker quickly so that we can continue to fight for fiscal responsibility, a more secure border, and against President Biden’s agenda.

My Thoughts on the Border Crisis Published Through The Daily Signal

The Committee on Homeland Security (CHS) is continuing to provide oversight of the Biden Administration’s failure to secure our southwest border. As Vice Chairman of the Committee, I’m thankful for the opportunity to be on the front lines of seeking to solve our border crisis. We must continue to fight for a secure border. My thoughts on the border and the opportunity I had to question Tim Ballard at a recent CHS were published in The Daily Signal. Be sure to check it out here.
