The recent tragedies in El Paso and Dayton reinforce what we already know - something must be done to stop this epidemic of violence that is all too common in our country.

Therefore, I’ve joined an effort to force the General Assembly to debate common-sense gun safety legislation.

The vast majority of North Carolinians support increased background checks, banning high-capacity magazines and bump stocks, and keeping guns out of the hands of people identified by courts as high risk. 

It is long past time to come together and at least have the guts to talk about meaningful, concrete ways to make our communities safer.

I've worked hard for you on these issues as your Representative, and I'll continue to do so as your Lt. Governor.
