John -

Over the weekend, we witnessed two deadly mass shootings in less than 24 hours.

First in El Paso, where a man carrying a gun and driven by hatred took the lives of 22 people. It instantly became one of the worst mass shootings in our nation's history.

We went to bed grieving for those families and that community. Then by the time we woke up on Sunday morning, it had happened again. Another 9 people had lost their lives in Dayton.

My heart breaks for these communities and our nation.

The truth is, we have a crisis in our country, and we need leaders who will work together to end it. We must stand together against the racism and hatred that is fueling domestic terrorism, and we must implement common-sense reforms to help stop these attacks.

But I'm running against someone whose response to this weekend's tragedies was simply horrifying.

State Senator Bishop didn't offer sympathy to the victims. He didn't offer a single proposal to reduce gun violence, not even common-sense measures like comprehensive background checks that 90% of Americans support. Instead, he spent the weekend on Twitter promoting his "A" rating from the NRA.

Not only that, but when elected officials condemned the white nationalism that fueled the El Paso shooter, Dan Bishop mocked them on Twitter. He called them "crazy clowns," a far-right trope popularized online by white nationalists.

This is a pattern for Dan Bishop. In the days after white supremacists rallied in Charlottesville, he invested in a social media site popular with white supremacists and used by the Pittsburgh synagogue shooter.

We cannot let this man get to Washington.

I'm going to do everything I can for the next 35 days to stop him, and I need you with me. This is too important for our children and for our country.

If you can, make a $3 donation to our campaign right now to help us defeat Dan Bishop at the ballot box. I cannot do this alone. It's going to take all of us standing together.

We cannot let ourselves become numb to senseless violence and white nationalism. It's on us to stand up and make a change. I pray that we will.

Yours in this fight,

Dan
