Dear friends,
Governor Gavin Newsom has ten days left to sign AB 1633, one of California YIMBY's priority bills for the 2023 session. Opponents are mobilizing to try and stop the governor from signing it, and we need Californians to speak out now in support of this important bill.
AB 1633, by San Francisco Assemblymember Phil Ting, takes a big step toward ending the abuse of local environmental and procedural rules to block new homes. It will help ensure that new housing that complies with local rules must be approved by local governments. It doesn't amend or change CEQA in any way. But that hasn't stopped opponents from spreading misleading claims about this bill.
AB 1633 passed the Assembly and the Senate, but it is still awaiting Governor Gavin Newsom’s signature. Send a message to the Governor today: Sign AB 1633!

AB 1633 is a good-government bill that ensures that environmentally-friendly infill housing projects receive a fair hearing, are voted on, approved, and built.
We all know what happens when local governments don’t follow local and state rules about approving new homes. We need your help to reduce the power NIMBYs have over the housing we so desperately need.
Opponents of this bill are already mobilizing to drive calls into Governor Newsom’s office urging him to veto this bill. We need to show him that Californians support this common-sense policy.
So, if you want to help ensure environmentally-friendly and legally-compliant housing is approved and built, send a message to the governor today urging him to sign AB 1633!
Thank you for speaking out in support of this important proposal. Your ongoing support and activism is how we'll make California more affordable and accessible for everyone.
Gratefully,
Matthew
