John,

For years since her hiring, Suzanne Cassidy, Opinion Editor of LNP|LancasterOnline has waged a public smear campaign on conservative Republicans and their policies from the editorial pages. It’s no secret that she despises me, President Trump, and other Republicans.

Her lousy editorials are just one example of how unbelievably out-of-touch she and other editors at LNP|LancasterOnline are with the majority of residents in our community. Her efforts to tar-and-feather conservatives in public discourse have directly contributed to LNP|LancasterOnline’s failure. If you disagree with that, explain why their subscribers have left them in droves, their balance sheets are swimming in red ink, and the newspaper was given away earlier this year.

I had not intended on responding to their ridiculous article until I read this weekend's editorial, which advocates for me to break House ethics rules. This is a new and all-time low for the editorial board. And frankly, it’s disturbing.

Above all else, I always strive to conduct myself with the highest ethical standards and in accordance with the House rules.

Using taxpayer resources to post any campaign or fundraising information on my official social media or my official website would be a clear violation of House rules and ethics.

As to their article and editorial, it is clear that LNP|LancasterOnline has lawyered up and has been consulting with attorneys before the article was printed. They walked a tightrope in attempting to imply that I have done something wrong or illegal, without explicitly saying so, knowing doing that would have opened them up to a lawsuit for defamation.

These are tactics used by tabloids, plain and simple.

LNP|LancasterOnline is fully aware and even publicly reported in April of 2021, that I served as a Vice Chair of the National Republican Campaign Committee (NRCC). In this capacity, I traveled the country to raise funds to support Republican candidates across our nation as part of a successful effort to win back the majority in the House of Representatives.

I am humbled to have received the financial support of over 2,000 individuals. Of course, LNP|LancasterOnline intentionally left out this fact. I am also proud of the fact that so many individuals from PA-11 have stepped up in a big way to support my efforts. My campaign finance records have been and always will be a matter of public record.

Adam Kidan has always been open with me and I respect his honesty and accountability for his actions. America is a land of second chances, except in the view of LNP|LancasterOnline’s editorial board if you happen to be a conservative.

This weekend’s letter to the editor from Mr. A. Dale Weaver had it exactly right. “The article spills a lot of ink, but after you get through the innuendo of wrongdoing, you find that the representative has done nothing wrong.” Mr. Weaver further dares the LNP|LancasterOnline to publish a lengthy investigation into the Biden family’s finances. Unfortunately, Dale, I wouldn’t hold your breath waiting on that article…

You don’t ever have to doubt where I am.

When I am in Washington, I am fighting to turn our country around and am advocating for our community’s conservative values. When Congress is not in session, I visit and talk with constituents all across Pennsylvania’s 11th Congressional District.

I posted the below photo the day after the election in November 2018, when I beat Jess King, by nearly 50,000 votes and nearly 20 points. King is now employed by WITF, the current owner of LNP|LancasterOnline. It’s worth noting that WITF receives millions in federal and state grants funded by taxpayers. Yet, you likely won’t find that disclosure anytime soon in the newspaper’s coverage.

Local news is critically important. Elected officials should be held accountable for their actions, and I have never shied away from that. While I know people get their news from many sources, people in the Lancaster community still seem to want a local balanced newspaper. LNP|LancasterOnline is failing to deliver that and is probably beyond saving.

I truly am humbled and honored to have the opportunity to serve the people of Pennsylvania’s 11th Congressional District. I will keep fighting for all residents of Pennsylvania’s 11th District in Washington, no matter how hard LNP|LancasterOnline’s editorial board tries to attack me.
