Hi John,

I want to tell you why I’m running for governor of Mississippi.

I’m running for governor because it’s time to put the interests of working families at the center of what matters in our state. It’s not a Democratic or Republican agenda. It’s a working families agenda. It’s about getting things done to build a better Mississippi for the hardworking people of this state.

As Attorney General, I’ve recovered over $3 billion for Mississippi taxpayers from big corporations, scam artists, and polluters. I’m going to take that same prosecutor mentality to state government -- and go after every instance of taxpayers being ripped off. Every special insider deal. Every wasteful giveaway. We need an honest and transparent government and the end of shady backroom deals. That’s why I’ve called for reform of state government.

The legislature approved a massive $210 million per year tax giveaway to big out-of-state corporations -- many of whom are campaign contributors. My priority is working folks. That’s why I’ve called for rolling back the sales tax on food. Let’s make it easier to put food on the table for the hardworking people of Mississippi.

We need to build a state that creates jobs so our children can build a bright future here. For Mississippi to grow, we need to be swinging hammers and building things. That begins by fixing our crumbling roads and bridges. And we need to expand workforce development and job training at community colleges and technical schools.

To improve our schools, I will lead the effort to institute statewide pre-K, raise teacher pay, and make college more affordable.

And I will fight to keep our rural hospitals open and expand access for affordable quality health care to our fellow Mississippians.

It comes down to this -- in everything I’ve done as Attorney General, I’ve put working families first. That’s what I will do as governor. With your support, we can move our state forward and put the hardworking people of Mississippi first.

I’m going to be asking for your help in a variety of ways, but for now, I’m asking you to follow our campaign on social media to get updates -- and tell your friends!
