John,
Today, we honor the lives lost six years ago during the deadliest mass shooting by a single gunman in American history.
In 2017, our nation witnessed bloodshed unlike any other when a man fired over 1,000 rounds at a music festival on the Las Vegas Strip.
The fatal toll was immense: 60 victims were killed, and at least 816 were injured. Survivors, victims, and their loved ones will feel the trauma and devastation forever.
We all deserve to feel safe, experience joy, and go to concerts without the fear of being gunned down. While the Las Vegas attack resulted in Congress banning the sale of rapid-fire bump stocks the following year, we still have a long way to go to end this epidemic. Gun manufacturers are already trying to find loopholes to keep profiting from this violence. Our work must continue.
By bringing our voices together, we have the power to break this deadly cycle. Today, we honor those we’ve lost and all the lives impacted by gun violence. Tomorrow, we will carry on the fight for gun safety reform until we live in a world free from gun violence.
In solidarity,
