*Over 70 Organizations Send Amicus Brief to SCOTUS Accusing IRS of Breaching First Amendment Right to Privacy*

CPAC joined the Advancing American Freedom Foundation and more than seventy other conservative and tax-exempt organizations along with three individuals in sending an amicus brief to the Supreme Court of the United States calling for the protection of First Amendment privacy rights for donors of non-profit and tax exempt organizations. The brief calls for an end to laws that require the disclosing of donor information to the IRS when precedent indicates such a requirement blatantly violates the First Amendment right to privacy. CPAC stands with other conservative organizations in protecting the basic of rights of all Americans especially as we currently witness the rampant and obvious abuse of power by the federal government.

*Nolan Center for Justice Pens Letter to PA Legislature*

CPAC Foundation’s Nolan Center for Justice authored a letter to Pennsylvania state representatives in support of House Bill 1381 that “represents a significant opportunity to reform and improve the way we handle juvenile offenders in Pennsylvania.” The bill encourages alternative rehabilitation efforts for low-risk and first-time juvenile offenders by reducing the use of solitary confinement, increasing the age of transfer from juvenile to adult court, and expanding requirements for diversion. The Nolan Center for Justice celebrates these changes as beneficial for the preservation of family units, reduction of public financial burden, and for public safety.

*CPAC Legislative Watch*

CPAC has been closely monitoring the North Carolina legislature as both good and questionable pieces of legislation have emerged from this latest session. Just recently, the Republicans in the legislature pulled out a victory by passing a state budget that includes a reduction of the personal tax rate to just below 4%. The legislature emerged with another conservative victory by joining nine other states in passing legislation protecting school choice. Read more about these exciting advancements for the conservative movement in North Carolina along with updates on other conservative issues and CPAC’s role in defending freedom on the new CPAC blog.
