John,

Americans throw away 51 million tons of plastic in one year, and only 5% of this is recycled. This plastic is destined to outlive us all, polluting our planet for hundreds of years.[1]

Addressing this problem requires a comprehensive effort, which is why our campaigns combine professional research with advocacy and grassroots organizing to tackle plastic waste at every level.

Will you donate today to help us move our country beyond plastic?

Here's just some of the work your donation helps support:

* Passing state bans on single-use plastics: With our national network's support, a growing number of states are passing bans on some of the worst kinds of single-use plastics, like plastic bags, plastic straws and polystyrene foam. Today, 1 in 3 Americans lives in a state with a robust ban on at least one type of single-use plastic.[2]
* Securing corporate commitments to reduce plastic waste: We've helped win commitments from some of the nation's largest plastic polluters -- such as Coca-Cola, McDonald's and Pepsi -- to reduce the amount of disposable plastic packaging they use. We're now calling on Amazon, Whole Foods and Costco to do the same, and lead industries away from single-use plastic.
* Holding plastics producers responsible for the waste their products become: Producer responsibility legislation makes manufacturers financially responsible for the waste they create, and for properly discarding their products at the end of their use. With our national network's support, four states -- Oregon, California, Colorado and Maine -- have passed this kind of law since 2021.

We are up against the plastics industry, and it's going to take resources to deploy the research, education and action to win these campaigns.

Your support helps us continue standing up for the public interest -- for the things that are important to you, John.

Help move our country beyond plastic: Donate before the midnight deadline and help us reach our $10,000 goal, so that we have the resources to keep moving our country beyond plastic.
