CHILDHOOD CANCER AWARENESS MONTH

FEARLESS: ANNA'S STORY

CHILDHOOD CANCER

AWARENESS MONTH

FEARLESS:

ANNA'S STORY

At just 15 years old, Anna's life was forever changed when she was diagnosed with stage 3 childhood ovarian cancer. Through her treatment, Anna and her family lived by the motto:

"Beat Cancer. Fearless Era. Strong and Courageous."

Anna, now in remission, is dedicated to helping other kids with cancer. She started a club at her school to raise awareness and shares her journey on TikTok, where she connects with other young people affected by the disease. Livestrong honors Anna this September, Childhood Cancer Awareness Month.

GEORGE MARK CHILDREN'S HOUSE

GRANTEE SPOTLIGHT

GEORGE MARK CHILDREN'S HOUSE

Deyzha was diagnosed with a brain tumor at 13. She was the first oncology patient to take part in the new Pediatric Cancer Respite Care Program at George Mark Children's House, funded in part by Livestrong Solution Grants. This assistance allows George Mark to provide respite care tailored to young oncology patients at no cost to their families.

At George Mark, Deyzha enjoys a happy break filled with art, pet therapy, singalongs and more while her mother and sole caregiver, Crystal, a single parent of three, gets a much-needed time of rejuvenation. We are proud to support cancer survivors and caregivers like Deyzha and Crystal through our Solution Grant focus on mental health.

HIGHLIGHTS

Phil, mountain bike race finisher

PHIL'S STORY

Despite a prostate cancer recurrence and a plan-interrupting cycling injury, 69-year-old endurance racer Phil isn't giving up. "All I need is willingness, fortitude, and courage to suit up, show up, and walk through the door—like cancer warriors do every single day," he says. Read Phil's Story Part Three

BMW BERLIN MARATHON

On September 24, 10 Team Livestrong runners raced alongside participants from 156 nations at the BMW Berlin Marathon. For our team, this was more than a race—it was an opportunity to help those facing cancer today. Together they raised $34K for Livestrong's survivorship programs! Don't miss the chance to run this World Marathon Major with Team Livestrong in 2024. Contact events@livestrong.org to learn more about joining our charity team!
