Two bills put forward this summer are a threat to democracy in North Carolina: Senate Bill (SB) 747 and SB 749.

The first bill could further hurt underserved communities by limiting vote-by-mail and unnecessarily complicating same day voting across North Carolina.

The second bill alters the NC State Board of Elections, giving even more power to state lawmakers. Past attempts to make these changes have been rejected by the state Supreme Court and by North Carolina’s voters by a margin of 61%-31%.
