On Friday, the Washington Examiner ([link removed]) broke the news that August saw the highest number ever of illegal crossing attempts at America’s Southern Border. More than 304,000 people were apprehended by Border Patrol last month at the Southern Border, according to data published ([link removed]) Friday by U.S. Customs and Border Patrol.

That’s as much as 10 times the monthly apprehensions that occurred during Trump’s presidency.

Even Elon Musk
posted ([link removed]) his shock about Biden’s latest record.

The news comes at the same time when Speaker Kevin McCarthy, R-CA is struggling to find the votes to pass a rules package necessary to keep the federal government open. The bone of contention: a defense appropriations bill that includes $300M for securing not our own border but another country’s border—Ukraine.

Last Thursday, the vote
failed ([link removed]) in the House, with defectors citing the Ukraine funding as the reason. “Our country is being invaded by thousands every damn day and our Department of Defense does nothing,” stated Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, R-GA.

Greene’s sentiments were shared by Illinois Republican Congresswoman Mary Miller, IL-15, who posted: “I oppose sending money to Ukraine that will be stolen by Ukrainian oligarchs in a proxy war that we were dragged into because Ukraine was paying the Biden family $1 million a year in cash. We should be securing our southern border instead!”

Illinois’ other two Republican Congressmen, Darin LaHood, IL-16 and Mike Bost, IL-12 voted in favor of sending millions of dollars more to Ukraine.

Bost, a former Marine who chairs the Veterans Affairs committee, has been remarkably quiet about his support for Ukraine. Bost is being challenged in the Republican primary by former Republican gubernatorial candidate Darren Bailey.

On Friday, Bailey posted a list of Republicans including Bost and LaHood who voted to send more money to Ukraine.

LaHood, who recently had a fundraiser in Chicago that attracted much of the IL GOP establishment elite, is running in an uncontested primary. This past September 11th, LaHood arrived with Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis at the 9/11 Memorial in New York City, leading many to speculate that LaHood is quietly supporting DeSantis’ presidential campaign.

Florida Republican Congressman Matt Gaetz, who has endorsed President Trump for the presidential nomination, is calling on Speaker McCarthy to separate the Ukrainian war funding into a stand-alone bill, or else face a motion to vacate his speakership.

Trump has been anything but silent on the war in Ukraine, vowing to quickly end it should he be reelected to the presidency in 2024. On Friday, Trump encouraged Republicans in Congress to “use the power of the purse” to secure our own border.

An ABC-Washington Post poll ([link removed]) released Sunday shows that Trump continues to dominate the race for the Republican presidential nomination but also now leads Biden by 10 points.
