Paxton Vindicated, Senate Acquits


Attorney General Ken Paxton will remain in office after the Texas Senate voted to acquit the defendant on 16 of the 20 impeachment articles levied against him by the House and subsequently dismissed the remaining four.

Tarrant County Passes Lean 2022 Budget

After the flurry of votes subsided on Tuesday, Tarrant County approved its most significant tax rate cut in decades. The county’s budget contracted by about $8 million compared with the previous year’s; cuts to several departments achieved the county’s lowest tax rate in at least a decade.

Texas adds to Border Wall in Del Rio

Texas is building more of the wall along the Texas and Mexico border in Del Rio, Gov. Greg Abbott announced last week. The construction is part of Operation Lone Star, which was launched by Abbott in March 2021 to combat “a rise in illegal immigration.”
