It has been a busy week. In fact, I'm still in D.C., working, and am scheduled to gavel in the House at 10:30am ET for another legislative day. But I have a moment right now to keep you in the loop on how I am fighting for our conservative values.
Before we start, I want to extend my heartfelt thanks to the Moorhead Police Department for their efforts in seizing over 1,300 M30 fentanyl pills. Their diligent work undoubtedly saved the lives of countless individuals. This should serve as a stark reminder of the need to secure our borders and intensify efforts against ruthless drug cartels that threaten the well-being of our communities.
In June, I joined the entire state delegation urging the Air National Guard and the U.S. Air Force to select the Minnesota National Guard’s 133rd Airlift Wing to receive new C-130J transport planes. I am pleased to share that Minnesota was successful in its bid and will receive eight planes. This effort culminates a years-long effort to modernize the fleet and better support the wide range of military operations assigned to the 133rd Airlift Wing. It is a privilege to work with and support our Minnesota National Guard in their missions.
I was a co-sponsor of the Rural Veterinary Workforce Act in the House, so I’m excited to see its companion legislation in the Senate gaining momentum. This legislation addresses the severe shortage of veterinarians across the nation by providing tax benefits to those who choose to practice in rural communities. By exempting payments under programs like the Veterinary Medicine Loan Repayment Program (VMLRP) from federal withholding tax, we're taking a significant stride toward enhancing access to critical veterinary services in rural areas. Increasing access to veterinary care for cattle, swine, poultry, and aquaculture will not only strengthen local economies but also safeguard our national food supply.
As always, please contact my office if there is anything we can help with. Thank you for your continued support!
With gratitude,
