National Muslim Voter Registration Day was last week, which means our staff has been hard at work ensuring that our community casts their ballots in the upcoming elections. Don't miss photos here from our Florida, New York Metro, and Texas teams!

 

Our reception in Virginia celebrating Muslim American appointees in the Biden Administration was a huge success! We are proud to celebrate the power and importance of representation.

 

Thank you to our speakers and panelists: Shereef Elnahal, the Under Secretary for Health at the Department of Veterans Affairs; Ali Zaidi, Assistant to the President and National Climate Advisor; Mazen Basrawi, White House Liaison to American Muslim Communities; Michelle Strucke, Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Global Partnerships in the Office of the Secretary of Defense; Mohsin Syed, Chief of Staff to Secretary Pete Buttegieg; Fayrouz Saad, Director of Public Engagement for CHIPS; Hady Amr, Special Representative for Palestinian Affairs within the State Department's Bureau of Near Eastern Affairs; and Brenda Abdelall, Assistant Secretary of Partnership and Engagement at the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.

  • The Tom Lantos Human Rights Commission hosted a hearing on human rights in Burma; it featured testimony from advocates Lucky Karim and Aye Chan Mon as well as key members of the Administration.   • The Michigan State House passed the Michigan State Holiday Bill package! Emgage Action Michigan was proud to be a part of the efforts to get this passed.

  • Emgage PAC Texas announced its endorsement of Texas Senator John Whitmire for Mayor of Houston.
  • Emgage PAC New York Metro co-hosted a listening session and fundraiser for Rep. Jamaal Bowman, a longtime supporter of priorities important to the Muslim community. 

  • Emgage Pennsylvania Executive Director Salima Suswell joined Philadelphia City Commissioner Omar Sabir and other elected officials and community leaders for a press conference in honor of National Voter Registration Day.

  • Emgage Florida joined South Florida community members to commemorate 9/11, which included a discussion on how we cared for one another in the days after the attack. 

  • Emgage Texas was proud to work with many esteemed partners on the American Mosaic Festival to showcase the diversity and vibrancy of American culture!
