Hi John,

?

This September, we're celebrating a major achievement: all New York schools will start the academic year full funded for the first time. Thanks for the hard work and your steadfast support!

?

Join us on Thursday, October 5, from 5:30 to 8:30pm ET at the Manny Cantor Center to mark this historic victory. Let's pay tribute to those who've tirelessly supported New York's students and contributed to our shared progress.

One of the evening's honorees will be Kimberly Tyre, an education and housing justice champion and AQE Ed Warrior graduate, whose journey into the realm of education advocacy and community empowerment is a testament to her unwavering determination to make a difference.

As a mother of five children, Kimberly embarked on a personal odyssey, delving into the intricacies of parenting multiple children of different ages with Individualized Education Plans (IEPs). Determined to provide the best for each of her children, Kimberly studied psychology at Mercy College and honed her skills in child development and communications. Her commitment to her children's education soon evolved into a powerful force for change.

?

Recognizing that the DOE's approach to educating her children often fell short and didn't truly cater to their unique needs, Kimberly took the initiative to become a certified IEP expert. Equipped with the knowledge and dedication needed to champion her children's needs, she sought to empower fellow parents facing similar challenges. Her involvement in PTAs and CECs solidified her role as a natural advocate, never content with the status quo.

In actively campaigning against mayoral control of schools and for improved early intervention services, Kimberly's dedication to education justice has expanded far beyond the classroom. In her commitment to building stronger communities, Kimberly also champions housing justice through her work with the New York City Housing Authority. Her lifelong dedication to education and housing equity show her unwavering commitment to fostering positive change in her community and beyond.

Join us in celebrating the unwavering dedication to educational justice by Kimberly Tyre and her peers, as we gather to commemorate this significant victory and set our sights on the enduring transformation we're all working towards.
