Over the past few weeks, the House GOP has been in utter disarray and has done the same for our government.

The far-right has been holding the government hostage, threatening a government shutdown if their demands like defunding the Justice Department (and their investigation into Donald Trump) are not met.

But that’s not all.

They have also blackmailed Kevin McCarthy into launching an impeachment inquiry into President Biden — threatening to remove him as Speaker if he does comply.

The MAGA GOP is abusing its power. They are willing to sacrifice the needs of the American people to fuel their political motivations. The only purpose of these stunts is to protect and reelect Trump. And it's clear, they will do everything they can to get Trump back into office.

It should not be this easy for people like Marjorie Taylor Greene and Matt Gaetz to be able to hold the government hostage. While people’s livelihoods are at stake, they sit back and watch their MAGA agenda unfold.

So myself and other House Democrats have called on Kevin McCarthy to put aside partisan politics and protect our economy and the livelihoods of the American people. We can protect working families today with a simple up-or-down vote to authorize funding the government.
