Message from Rep. Tracey Mann. Having Trouble Viewing? Click Here. Fellow Kansan, Thank you for subscribing to my newsletter! I’m excited to update you on my work in Washington, D.C. and the First District of Kansas. It is an honor to represent Kansans in the Big First District in the 118th Congress. I do not serve in Congress to be a caretaker in the slow demise of America – I serve to fight and work to make it stronger, and I believe our brightest days are yet to come. Yours in service,   Mann.House.Gov   The Week Ahead The House is back in session, and House Republicans are ready to pass legislation to secure America's border, restore our nation of law and order, and take the first step at responsibly funding our government. The Continuing Appropriations and Border Security Enhancement Act of 2024, which is scheduled to come up for a vote, includes border security measures from H.R. 2, the Secure the Border Act of 2023, which passed in the House in May. It would also fund the Department of Defense and the Department of Veterans Affairs at current levels while cutting all discretionary spending by 8%. While negotiations are ongoing, we need to restore sanity and get America's fiscal house back in order. The House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee will hold a hearing to question Secretary of Transportation, Pete Buttigieg and hold the Biden Administration accountable. Meetings in the Office: Livestock Marketing Association American Cancer Society Kansas Department of Transportation Associated General Contractors of America and Kansas Association of Equipment Manufacturers Kansas Farm Bureau American Feed Industry Association National Bison Association Financial Services Institute Kansas Bankers Association   In the Office Holding President Biden Accountable Congress has uncovered serious and credible allegations of corruption surrounding President Biden, his administration, and his immediate family members. These allegations indicate that President Biden has been directly involved with shady foreign business deals, which bank records and the Treasury Department can corroborate. Despite these serious allegations, the Biden Justice Department continues to offer special treatment to President Biden and his family. These allegations suggest abuse of power, obstruction, and corruption, and they warrant further investigation by the House of Representatives. More facts and evidence will come to light through this inquiry, and the American people deserve to know whether President Biden has been compromised by millions of dollars in foreign bribes. Despite the Biden Administration’s shocking and desperate attempt to pressure the media into ramping up their scrutiny of this impeachment inquiry, Congress has the sworn duty to go where the evidence leads, gather all the facts, and hold President Biden accountable for his conduct. Unleashing American Energy Production for Sustainable Aviation Fuel The United States is the world’s largest producer of biofuels – growing our domestic economy, creating jobs, and reducing emissions. Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) grown, sourced, and produced from renewable and waste recourses creates new economic opportunities in agriculture, benefits the environment, and improves overall aircraft performance. The Sustainable Aviation Fuels Accuracy Act, which I support, would prohibit the federal government from banning feedstocks as a viable source of SAF. The legislation would also require the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) to use the Green Greenhouse Gases, Regulated Emissions, and Energy Use in Technologies (GREET) model when determining which fuels meet the definition of Sustainable Aviation Fuel. The GREET model is the most up-to-date scientific model we have for measuring emissions in fuels. This is a simple regulatory fix with significant benefits for farmers, domestic energy security, and clean energy production. When it comes to American energy production of all kinds, the federal government should not pick winners and losers. Click here to read more about the legislation. Streamlining the Small Business Administration's Office of Rural Affairs Small businesses help drive the American economy and define the American dream. They add brick and mortar to the values that make our country unique, like freedom, self-determination, and the pursuit of happiness. In 1953, President Eisenhower signed the Small Business Act into law to support the tireless efforts of American small business owners. Like President Eisenhower, I know that rural small businesses are the backbone of America. I recently introduced H.R. 5425, which would require the Small Business Administration’s Office of Rural Affairs to streamline their outreach efforts on behalf of the hardworking Americans whose businesses keep our country thriving. Click here to read more about the legislation. Recognizing KUMC: Transforming Rural Health Care Through the Heartland Consortium Initiative Congratulations to the University of Kansas Medical Center (KUMC) on their leadership of the Heartland Consortium Initiative! The existing resources and research expertise found at KUMC are second to none, and the Heartland Consortium Initiative will only further transform health care research and initiatives by ensuring that rural populations are represented. Rural Americans must be included in future data for major health decisions. I’m looking forward to seeing how KUMC will use this new opportunity to transform health care for our country. Supporting Businesses Recovering from Supply Chain Disruptions Every small business in America has been affected by supply chain disruptions in the last few years. As these businesses continue to recover, the federal government shouldn’t step in with burdensome taxes and regulations, which only make matters worse. The Supply Chain Disruptions Relief Act would allow businesses time to replace their inventory, specifically car dealerships working to replace their inventory from 2020 or 2021, when global semiconductor shortages were at their worst. This legislation represents one small step that the federal government can take to help a critical sector of American industry, and I am proud to cosponsor it. Click here to read more about the legislation.   Meetings in the Office Growth Energy Growth Energy is the leading biofuels trade association in the country, and they are working hard to grow America's economy and support American farmers. I was honored to receive their 2023 Fueling Growth Award during our meeting last week. Biofuels are an integral part of the all-of-the-above energy strategy that we must embrace to reclaim American energy independence, and I will continue to support legislation that unleashes all forms American energy production. Harvesters - The Community Food Network Last week, Karen Siebert with Harvesters and I met to discuss Kansas' legacy of fighting global hunger. Harvesters provides food and related household products to more than 760 nonprofit agencies. They are living out the Kansas value of helping our neighbors, and I'm grateful for their work. Kansas Automobile Dealers Association Kansas Automobile Dealers Association (KADA) is dedicated to protecting the interests and increasing the value of automotive dealerships throughout the state. I enjoyed meeting with them last week to discuss issues facing dealerships in Kansas, like supply chain disruptions. I proudly cosponsor H.R. 700, the Supply Chain Disruptions Relief Act, which would give dealerships up to three years to replace their inventory from 2020-2021 when the supply chain was facing significant shortages due to the pandemic. Thank you, KADA, for taking the time to meet with me.   Virtual care continues to play a critical role in supporting access to safe, quality health care services for all. The American Telemedicine Association's Telehealth Week is a chance to highlight the value of telehealth services in our communities alongside leaders representing diverse patient and provider perspectives. I'm honored to receive the ATA's Policy Champion award this year. Telehealth is particularly essential for people in the rural communities of the Big First District. I cosponsor several pieces of telehealth legislation in the 118th Congress, including the Telehealth Expansion Act, and I will continue fighting for access to health care for all Kansans. 2023 Military Academy Nominations Now Open As a member of Congress, it is my honor to offer service academy nominations for ten students in the Big First District who wish to pursue a career serving in our nation's military.
