Sara Jacobs - Democrat, U.S. Congress

Well friends, here we are again - House Republicans have completely lost the plot, and hardworking Americans are set to pay the price.

The fiscal year ends on September 30th and if a government funding bill or package isn’t passed by then (which seems unlikely), we at least need to pass a short-term funding bill in order to keep the government open.

But some of my more extreme Republican colleagues in the House are setting the stage for yet another irresponsible government shutdown by tying their support for any spending bill to unreasonable demands, like further restricting our reproductive rights and bodily autonomy.

They’re essentially holding the government hostage, and it’s not just federal employees who will pay the price. Shutdowns can slow down food assistance programs and disrupt services for veterans and seniors - and slow and harm our economy overall.

Join me in calling on House Republicans to drop their dangerous and unreasonable demands and get real about a commonsense funding bill.

ADD MY NAME

Playing games with government funding is completely reckless - and especially hypocritical from the party of so-called fiscal responsibility!

Right now, our top priority needs to be passing a funding bill to keep the government open and operational - so we can get back to work on legislation that will help American families.

Sign my petition to tell the extreme House GOP that they need to put people over politics.

Thanks for your support - more to come on this important issue.
