Friend, these numbers are shocking.

The Census Bureau just released its annual report, which includes numbers on childhood poverty in the United States.

It showed that five million children were plunged into poverty last year. You read that correctly: five million kids.

What changed? Well, in 2021, Michael led Congress in the passage of a major expansion of the Child Tax Credit. Millions of families benefited, including 90% of Colorado's kids.

But Congress let the expanded Child Tax Credit expire after one year.  And our nation's kids are much worse off because of it.

Michael has been fighting for the expanded Child Tax Credit since 2015. When it was enacted in 2021, it cut child poverty nearly in half. It was a huge win for working families who desperately needed relief during the pandemic.

Now, we’re seeing the backslide. This report makes it clear — by failing to renew the expansion, Congress left millions of kids behind.
