John,
It’s Hot Labor Summer.
The workers in our district, in California, and across the country are at an inflection point.
I know where IÂ stand.
Whether it’s our healthcare workers, our writers and actors, our food service workers, or any of the 53 labor unions who walked off the job in California this year, I support their goals of decent pay, benefits, and job security.
I will continue to stand for fair wages and safety for all workers if elected your Congresswoman. Chip in $3 to help us get there.

Special interests and public relations firms want to deem these workers’ basic asks as “unreasonable.” It’s totally ludicrous.
It’s certainly not unreasonable to want to be able to afford rent or a mortgage in one of the nation’s most expensive communities. And it’s not unreasonable to stand strong and fight for what you deserve -- even if it means going on strike.
That’s why I am so proud to coauthor legislation to allow striking workers in California to receive unemployment benefits.
This week, that legislation passed the Assembly and moved on to the Senate.
This bill has and will continue to face intense opposition from powerful interests, but that won’t stop me.
Also this week, I introduced AB 1017, a critical piece of legislation that creates the Striking Worker Emergency Homelessness Prevention Program, which will provide zero interest loans to help striking workers cover their rent or mortgage during a prolonged labor dispute. It's simple: homelessness should not be a price that striking workers have to pay for standing up for their rights. My bill provides a safety net to protect workers and our economy.
I am committed to helping people who are struggling because they’re executing their right to strike. There is not a level playing ground between an individual worker and a giant corporation, and people need help.
I am fighting to make sure the folks who are the lifeblood of our economy and our industries are treated fairly. By doing that, we're not just helping them, but strengthening our economy and community as a whole. I will stand alongside striking workers for as long as it takes for them to get a fair deal.
I want to bring the same energy of California’s Hot Labor Summer to Congress, and I need your support. Donate $3.
Laura
