The future of food assistance is at stake.

I worked my way through college, and food stamps (now called SNAP benefits) helped me get enough to eat.

As a member of Congress, I'm committed to finding solutions to hunger. It's unacceptable that anyone in the United States should go hungry. Everyone deserves to have enough to eat, and no one should feel ashamed or stigmatized for accessing services like SNAP (the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program).

SNAP is our most effective hunger program. It assists millions of low-income Americans across the country. 1 in 6 Oregonians rely on SNAP, and more than half of SNAP recipients are families with children. SNAP isn't about handouts; it's about giving low-income families access to the nourishment their kids need to thrive.

This year, Kevin McCarthy and his extremist allies in Congress have already forced cuts to SNAP benefits, making them more difficult for people to access.

Now – just a few months later — they are hoping to gut SNAP even further in the Farm Bill.

We must hold them accountable. Together, we can fight against these unjust policies and elect a Congress that champions compassion, fairness, and empathy.

Thank you for standing with me in this crucial fight,

Suzanne
