The number of refugees and displaced people around the world today is at the highest level ever recorded, with more than 70 million forced to flee their home because of conflict, violence or persecution. There is increasing recognition that forced displacements and humanitarian emergencies have a disproportionate and devastating effect on women and girls.

Just before International Women’s Day, March 8, HIAS staff will talk about the urgent needs of displaced women and girls, and how the world is falling short of meeting them. We will also share highlights of our rapidly expanding work in 16 countries to protect women and girls forced to flee their homes.
