Three US military services without Senate-confirmed chiefs for first time in history amid Tuberville protests
Friend,
Last month, I told you about Alabama Sen. Tommy Tuberville’s stubborn refusal to stop holding up the nominations and promotions of more than 300 senior military officers to protest the Pentagon’s abortion policy.
Nearly a month later, he’s still standing in the way -- leaving multiple key military positions vacant, all in a political stunt to advance his right-wing, anti-choice agenda.
I appeared on CNN to call on Tuberville to drop this ridiculous blockade. We owe that to our military families and our country’s national security.

Subject: Tuberville’s protest leaves military leadership roles vacant
Three military services are now without Senate-confirmed heads for the first time in history, as Alabama Sen. Tommy Tuberville holds up the nominations and promotions of more than 300 senior military officers to protest the Pentagon’s abortion policy.
The policy in question allows for paid leave and travel reimbursement for servicemembers seeking reproductive health care.
For months now, Tuberville has single-handedly held our nation’s military hostage -- blocking hundreds of military promotions to advance his right-wing, anti-choice agenda. It’s having a devastating effect on our national security, and it must be stopped.

Look, I’m a member of the Armed Services Committee, a Senator from one of the states most closely connected to the military, and the father of a Marine. I strongly believe the military should be above politics -- not subjected to right-wing blockades over basic health care services.
We have to stand up against this nonsense. Let’s do it together.
