It's been another busy week in TX-23 and D.C. I am proud to serve our district in Congress. Each day, I work to address your concerns and protect our liberties. From helping you navigate federal casework to addressing your concerns, my team and I are always here to help. Please read below for some updates on my recent work representing you in Washington, D.C. and back home in TX-23. Law and Order in TX-23 Backing Law Enforcement This week, I introduced the COPS Act after six San Antonio police officers were shot in the line of duty. This legislation increases fines and jail time for anyone who assaults first responders and law enforcement officers in the line of duty. Our brave men and women behind the badge work tirelessly to protect our safety, and I will always advocate for them in Congress. Click here to learn more about my new legislation. Congressman Tony Gonzales joined Fox and Friends on Friday to discuss the COPS Act. Click the video above or here to watch. Border Discussions: Brewster County On Thursday, I held a roundtable with County Judge Greg Hennington, Sheriff Ronny Dodson, Chief of Police Darrell Losoya, and other leaders from Brewster County. We discussed my new COPS Act legislation, federal funding, and solutions to end the border crisis. I also made a stop at Sul Ross State University for an update on all the great programs that are available to students this academic year. West Texas Swing: Sheriffs Edition I also met with the sheriff's departments in Winkler and Loving counties to discuss crime in the region. The best way to enact policy changes in Washington is by listening to the experts on the ground. The "Wranch" Life I made a new friend at Wassermann Wranch in Alpine this week. Carl the Camel challenged me to a staring contest, and it was a very close call. Better luck next time, Carl. Thank you to Scott and Heidi Wassermann for hosting me and for allowing me to learn more about their operations at the Wranch. Friday Night Lights in Uvalde No better way to spend a Friday night in Uvalde than cheering on the Coyotes! Congratulations to the team on their victory this week. My team and I are always available to assist you. Please feel free to contact my office at any time.
