I will not be silenced

This weekend I have the pleasure of walking in the Boise Pride parade another year! 

 

Last year’s pride event was truly amazing, and I was so grateful to have a chance to connect with so many members of my community – despite Republicans’ bigoted attempts to shut us down.

 

Here’s what happened last year:

 

  • The Chair of the Idaho GOP, Dorothy Moon, started attacking the pride festival and scared a bunch of corporate sponsors into withdrawing their support.

 

  • Other far-right lawmakers joined in and ramped up the rhetoric even further, goading on their radical supporters with the hopes of shutting the festival down completely.

 

  • There were so many threats circulating that I was even urged by some not to attend.

 

I would not be running for Congress if I was afraid of GOP attacks. I showed up last year, and I’m showing up again.

It’s a terrifying time to be LGBTQIA+ in America, especially for our trans brothers and sisters. Nearly 600 anti-trans bills were introduced in 49 states in 2023 alone. 

 

My campaign is a clear and forceful rebuke against all who would discriminate against the LGBTQ community. Help me send the message that WE BELONG, and we deserve the same rights and liberties as every American.

When I get to Congress, I will work as hard to protect my community from discriminatory, dangerous state laws as I’ll work to deliver an easier future for all Idahoans – a future where no one is pinned down by medical debt, inflation, or legislative attacks on their identity.

 

If you see me at Pride tomorrow, come by and say hi! And when you see me on the ballot next year, you know what to do.
