Friends, it’s the weekend, so I’ll keep this short, but I have an important update from my work in the Senate.

With the end of the fiscal year approaching in just a few weeks, I reintroduced my bill to prevent government shutdowns — the End Shutdowns Act — and I hope I can count on your support. 

Add your name now to be an official supporter of my legislation to prevent government shutdowns.

The bill is very simple: If no appropriations bill is passed by October 1st, it would initiate an automatic continuing resolution to prevent the disastrous consequences government shutdowns have on federal employees and the millions of Americans who rely on critical government services. 

I’m sick of the political games that far too many in Washington are willing to play — threatening government shutdowns as a negotiating tactic isn’t OK. And I know I’m not the only one who’s fed up!

So today, I’m asking you to sign my petition and show your support for my End Shutdowns Act.

Together, we can take a stand on this issue and say loud and clear: Playing games with government shutdowns and forcing suffering on millions of Virginians and Americans simply isn’t acceptable.
