Attorney General Rob Bonta

Rob isn’t afraid to go up against bad actors who harm consumers and Californians’ well-being, including Big Pharma. That’s why he launched a lawsuit against Amgen, one of the world’s largest pharmaceutical companies that was trying to monopolize the market for some crucial, life-saving medications.

Last week, Rob announced a historic settlement with Amgen that will help protect the affordability, access, and choice of drugs for California’s most vulnerable patients.

If Amgen had their way, they would have acquired another pharma company, eliminating competitors in the market for producing medication for multiple rare and often severe autoimmune diseases, such as thyroid eye disease and chronic refractory gout. That would have meant less opportunities for Californians to access new, more affordable drugs to treat serious health conditions.

This settlement is the first of its kind in protecting patients from the impacts of a pharmaceutical merger, and will prevent Amgen from cornering the market and price gouging patients through their anticompetitive practices.

As your Attorney General, Rob is dedicated to fighting to ensure all patients, especially the most vulnerable, have access to high-quality, affordable healthcare and medications in California and beyond.

Stand with Rob as he stands up for all of us: pitch in $5 or whatever you can afford today to fuel our people-powered campaign and keep him fighting powerful special interests like Big Pharma.
