John —

As students around the country return to the classroom, we often hear from our chapter members that the biggest fear they have is gun violence. In fact, some of our members have survived multiple shootings, adding a new meaning to back to school dread.

The fact is, no amount of lockdown or active shooter drills can prepare a child for the traumatizing experience of a school shooting. Yet Congress is still sleeping on one of the most basic forms of common sense gun legislation: requiring background checks for every firearm sale.

We cannot afford another deadly school year. Will you sign our petition calling on Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer to bring universal background checks to the floor for a vote? Once you do, please send it to 3 friends — the more people who sign, the more likely we force a vote!

The overwhelming majority of Americans' already support universal background checks. Congress must do everything in their power to ensure our classrooms are safe.

Thanks for your commitment to ending gun violence.
