We're seeing a surge in right-wing candidates across the country.

The motives for the sudden interest in governing our elections is clear. Secretaries of State were key to pushing back against some of the most egregious assaults on our democracy in the 2020 election.

After this setback, extreme Republicans began filing for Secretary of State elections on the back of conspiracies and fringe legal theories.

Rep. Wheatley's opponent has worked hard to conceal his alignment with the far-right. Despite defeating a push from his right flank to secure his party's nomination, he still continues to moonlight as a political operative for far-right characters across the country. He is even pushing to leave ERIC, the voting system that makes it harder to cheat in our elections.
