California won’t tolerate any violation of LGBTQ+ students’ privacy and civil rights.

Attorney General Rob Bonta

Breaking news.

After a careful investigation, Attorney General Rob Bonta just filed a lawsuit against Chino Valley Unified School District over its discriminatory policy requiring schools to ‘out’ their students’ gender identity.

The forced outing policy introduced in July requires schools within the district to inform parents, with minimal exceptions, whenever a student requests to use a name or pronoun different from that on their birth certificate or official records — even if such disclosure is against the student’s express wishes or could put them in a potentially dangerous situation at home.

This is an incredibly dangerous policy that violates the California Constitution and the civil rights of young people, and poses a direct threat to the safety and well-being of transgender and gender nonconforming students, who are already one of our country’s most vulnerable communities.

Rob won’t tolerate it. That’s why he’s taking Chino Valley Unified to court.

Students should never fear going to school for simply being who they are. If you agree, make a grassroots contribution of $5 or more to support Rob’s fight for LGBTQ+ youth ahead of our end-of-month deadline.
