Greater Georgia Newsletter August 28, 2023 Happy August and welcome to this month's Greater Georgia Newsletter! We are thrilled to bring you the latest news and updates from our organization. This month's newsletter is filled with exciting highlights, including a recently launched program that aims to encourage and empower conservatives to run for office at the local level. LATEST NEWS GREATER GEORGIA COMPLETES 2023 CANDIDATE RECRUITMENT PROGRAM July - August 2023 In July, we announced our first-ever candidate recruitment program ahead of the November 2023 municipal elections. The program focused on identifying and recruiting a class of qualified conservatives to run for local office in cities across the state, as well as equipping them with the training to run winning campaigns. As Senator Loeffler said, "Greater Georgia is going on offense with a program designed to recruit top-tier candidates and empower them with the tools to run and win. By building a strong bench, we'll be better prepared to take back our communities - and deliver strong conservative leadership where it matters most." Over 100 Georgians signed up to be part of the program, and joined us over the course of this month as we held workshops with experts in fundraising and compliance, field, and conservative policy. Last week was qualifying week for this year's election, and we're thrilled to say that about a dozen individuals in our program qualified to be mayoral and city council candidates in cities across the state. They will be on the ballot for this year's Tuesday, November 7th election - and we'll be publishing their profiles over the coming weeks. As a reminder, you can begin requesting absentee ballots for the Tuesday, November 7th general election NOW through October 27th. Early voting will begin on October 16th. The voter registration deadline is October 10th. STATEMENT ON SB 202 LAWSUIT August 19, 2023 Earlier this month, a U.S. District Court ruled to block two provisions of SB 202 - one that bans campaigns and interest groups from influencing voters standing in line to cast their ballots, and one that requires voters to write their date of birth on their absentee ballots for identity verification purposes. Chairwoman Kelly Loeffler issued the following statement opposing the Court's ruling, and our team continues to track the progress of this pending litigation. IN THE MEDIA Live Interview with Erick Erickson at The Gathering August 18, 2023 Chairwoman Kelly Loeffler joined Erick Erickson at The Gathering Conference to discuss our latest work at Greater Georgia and the importance of year-round voter registration, mobilization, and education - especially for diverse communities, young voters, and women. The two also dug into the key issues driving the electorate - and what it will take to keep Georgia red in 2024. Meanwhile, our team spent the weekend registering voters and recruiting volunteers from the fired-up audience. Click HERE or the image below to watch the interview. Radio Interview with Martha Zoller on WDUN August 4, 2023 Chairwoman Kelly Loeffler joined Martha Zoller to discuss the success of our candidate recruitment program and the importance of proactive conservative recruitment at the local level. Newsmax Op-Ed on Saving Girls's Sports July 24, 2023 Last month, Chairwoman Kelly Loeffler also published a new op-ed exposing top women athletes’ hypocrisy in pushing for boys in girls' sports – the very platform on which stars like Megan Rapinoe built gold-plated careers. As a former co-owner of the WNBA Atlanta Dream and a Presidential Delegate to the FIFA 2019 Women's World Cup, Loeffler also called on women's professional sports leagues to stand up for the advancement of girls’ sports by rejecting gender ideology and preserving a level playing field for future generations. EVENTS 8th Congressional District Fish Fry August 26, 2023 This weekend, Greater Georgia was proud to sponsor the 20th Annual 8th District Fish Fry at the Georgia National Fairgrounds in Perry. We had an excellent time meeting with friends from across South Georgia, hearing from Governor Brian Kemp and Congressman Austin Scott - and of course, eating fried fish! Citizen Impact Annual Conference August 24, 2023 Last week, we were also thrilled to join Citizen Impact for their 2023 Annual Conference, where conservatives from across the state gathered to discuss faith, family, and freedom - and how to defend it in 2024. Sound of Freedom Event with Governor and First Lady Kemp August 8, 2023 Earlier this month, Chairwoman Kelly Loeffler was joined by Governor Kemp, First Lady Kemp, and supporters for a showing of Sound of Freedom. It was a somber way to spread awareness about the epidemic of child exploitation - and to call attention to the First Family's tremendous efforts in the fight to end human trafficking. Summer Canvassing Spree in Gwinnett County August 5, 2023 To kick off August, we hosted a canvassing event in Gwinnett County. Thanks to staff, interns, and volunteers, we knocked over 400 doors, made over 1,000 phone calls, and registered dozens of conservative voters. Thank you to all who came out - and remember, if you'd like to join us next time, you can volunteer at greatergeorgia.com/volunteer! GREATER GEORGIA STORE Need some Greater Georgia gear?
