It was only a few months ago that a Trump-appointed federal judge in Texas blocked the FDA's approval of mifepristone – a widely-used abortion drug that's been available for over twenty years. The Supreme Court later put this outrageous ruling on hold. But the anti-choice right hasn’t let up in their efforts to use the judiciary to implement national abortion restrictions.

Just this month, a conservative-leaning federal appeals court ruled in favor of limiting access to mifepristone. This decision is not yet in effect (pending Supreme Court review), but it would prevent the drug from being taken later in pregnancy, and not allow it to be mailed directly to patients.

We want to emphasize something that’s truly outrageous: the restrictions to mifepristone would apply to all states – including ones like Virginia that still recognize the right to choose.

This is all part of the far right’s plan to institute a national abortion ban. They can’t get the necessary votes to do it through Congress, and they certainly can’t win the argument at the ballot box, so they’re aiming to circumvent the will of the people and use right-wing courts.

Jennifer refuses to sit by and let that happen. She understands that Congress has to step up and pass legislation that protects access to abortion medication like mifepristone.

It's absurd that right-wing judges can ignore years of medical evidence and dictate what medication people can and can't use.

But unless Congress acts, these right-wing judges will chip away at our rights even more.

We have to fight these anti-choice forces through every possible avenue. The work ahead won't be easy, but we cannot afford to let up for even one minute — not with the stakes this high.
