Dear  john,

I hope that you and your family are well. As summer winds down, I’m enjoying meeting many of you back home in our district. Congress will be returning to Washington in September to determine how we will fund the government next year and to continue our investigative work. I’ll make sure to keep you updated during the process.

Recess Roundup

Liberal prosecutors and politicians escalated the witch hunt against President Trump to an unprecedented new level, arresting him and releasing a mug shot. They are set on completely criminalizing political speech to keep their grasp on power. This is audacious, dangerous, and we can’t allow one more penny to go towards funding these activities. Congress must hold the perpetrators of these bogus investigations to account.

READ: No More Weaponization

My conservative colleagues and I in the House Freedom Caucus put out our official position on government funding – if funding bills don’t secure the border, address the weaponization of our justice system, and end the cancerous woke policies in the military, we won’t be supporting it.

READ: No Security, No Funding

I’m not in Washington to perpetuate the rotten status quo, and I’ll keep fighting tooth and nail against any attempt to uphold the uniparty’s agenda that puts America last.

A major priority for my office is exposing and uprooting the censorship emanating from the federal government and their partners in Big Tech and the broader Censorship Industrial Complex. DHS Secretary Mayorkas has misled and obfuscated Congress in our investigations, and we’re demanding the truth.

Supporting Our First Responders

I was glad to co-sponsor the NC First Responders Bill, which will allow nonprofit firefighters and EMS workers to fully participate in their local pension plans.

Our first responders put their lives on the line every day to keep us all safe. Their service should be commended, and they deserve access to the same retirement funds as their counterparts employed by the state. I’m proud that all of North Carolina’s House Republicans came together to sponsor this legislation.

North Carolina News

On Friday, I had the honor of speaking at the Nucor Steel groundbreaking event in Lexington. Nucor is America’s largest steel manufacturer, and they are committed to supporting North Carolina’s manufacturing economy.

We can still make great things in America, and we can bring back our industries from overseas. I was happy to welcome Nucor to Davidson County and to meet some of you who attended the event.

This past week, I also toured the Carolinas Regional Fugitive Task Force headquarters. The men and women of the CRFTF locate and apprehend fugitives, with a specific focus on apprehending violent criminals. I’m incredibly grateful to them for their work keeping our communities safe. May God bless our hardworking law enforcement officers and their families!

I also had the pleasure to meet Sabrina Bradford of Waxhaw and Noyonika Parui of Matthews last week to present them with the Silver and Gold Congressional Award medals. This award is the highest honor Congress bestows on America's youth and is earned through public service, achievement, and character. Congratulations to Sabrina and Noyonika - I know that your futures are bright!
