JOhn,

Today we celebrate Women’s Equality Day – a commemoration of the adoption of the 19th Amendment and women gaining the right to vote.

But as we look back on the incredible achievements of the suffrage movement, we are reminded of the steep barriers to full equality that women still face in America.

We still don’t have adequate paid maternity leave in many states. We still make less on average for the jobs as men. And we are grappling with the new reality that our bodily autonomy is longer recognized at a national level.

I was proud to be elected to the House as part of a historic wave of women in 2018. I've consistently supported legislation that expands women’s access to quality, affordable health care, family planning services, and contraception. And I’ve been a tireless proponent of codifying the right to an abortion into federal law.

I will keep working to restore the right to choose – and for gender equality on all fronts. The work we still have to do is daunting, but I’m inspired every day by the determination of grassroots supporters like you to stay in the fight.

Our voices together remain powerful. We can and will prevail.

Sincerely,

Jennifer
