Friend, in the wake of his acquittal by the GOP Senate, Donald Trump has shown exactly how little regard he has for the rule of law.
He put public pressure on the Department of Justice to back off on its sentencing recommendation for Roger Stone. He's issued a series of pardons and commutations that reward the corrupt behavior of disgraced figures like Rod Blagojevich and Bernard Kerik. Defending his actions, he called himself the "chief law enforcement officer" in our country -- a downright chilling declaration of absolute power.
Trump's behavior is possible because of the cowards in his party -- including Texas Republicans like Roger Williams and John Cornyn -- who have refused to speak out and aligned with him out of political expediency.
In 2020, we will remove Trump and those who have enabled him. We will begin the hard work of unwinding the corruption of our democracy that made this dangerous situation possible in the first place.

We have to get big money out of our elections, once and for all. Of the many crises we are facing in this country -- of healthcare affordability, of gun violence, of a climate crisis driven by the fossil fuel industry, of mass incarceration, of the human rights violations we are seeing at the border -- we could meaningfully address all of them by ending the corrupting influence of money in our politics.
That's why we need to elect lawmakers who are accountable to everyday people -- not the special interest groups who write the biggest checks.
Many candidates claim to run corporate-PAC-free campaigns -- but very few can claim, like us, to run campaigns that have refused all PAC money and that are 100% funded by individual supporters like you. This is the only way to ensure that the people of District 25 have a voice and know their representative is not in anyone’s pocket.
Sticking to our principles in this race means withstanding barrages of attacks from the entrenched special interests that are threatened by our message. And I can't take them alone.
