Our state has a long history of political battles over what schools can and can’t teach about climate change and evolution. Texas is one of the country’s largest markets for public school textbooks. The materials adopted by the SBOE this year will inform how children across the country (not just in Texas!) learn about climate change, its effect on their future, and the steps needed to curb the crisis they’re inheriting — a crisis that’s increasingly immediate after fires stole homes in Central Texas and destroyed entire communities in Hawaii just this month.
Interested but need support? TFN organizers are hosting virtual office hours tomorrow and Friday, from 11 a.m. - 12 p.m. CST, to guide folks on how to draft their testimony and emails. We'll send you Zoom info after you pledge to testify.
